MPRA’s 2024 Event Schedule
Friday, April 26 – Our annual meeting will again be held at Campbell’s Pavilion – Our social hour starts at 5:30 PM. Dinner at 6:30 followed by a brief annual meeting. There will be fried chicken, bbq, slaw, and baked beans. You are welcome to join us and bring a dish to share. We also encourage you to bring your own utensils and cup. Conservation begins with us!
Saturday, May 18 – The Wine and Fine Arts Festival at Locust Grove. MPRA will be hosting the children’s tent. Come by and see us. We will be there from 10 – 4.
Wednesday, May 29 – First paddle of 2024. Join us at the Walkerton Landing ( on the side by the old bridge) for our celebration of River Month. We usually do this on June 1st but the tides say no. We will meet around 5:30 PM and paddle up the Mattaponi, the tide turns about 6:30 PM, so we can ride the tide. You must bring your PFD along with your kayak or canoe. All are welcome, and bring your beverages and snacks too.
June is River Month – CELEBRATE EVERY DAY!!!!
Saturday, July 13 – Paddle from the Zoar put-in to Aylett. We meet at 9 AM and usually shuttle cars back to Aylett boat landing after unloading. We try to launch by 9:30 AM and arrive in Aylett around noon, You must bring your PFD . This is a long paddle but it is beautiful. And always a lot of fun.
Monday, August 26 – Annual paddle at Garnett’s Creek. In the past few years, this has become more of a float and swim than a paddle. You must bring your PFD. I hope you can join us.
