Directions
Water - 2nd boat house after the Mattaponi Indian
Resevation heading toward West Point on the KW side of the river or the 5th
boathouse (6th dock) on the KW side leaving West Point just after Rainbow Acres.
Land -
From Central
Garage - follow rt. 30 about 17 miles. Turn left onto 640 (Wakema Rd.).
That is the first left after Colossee Baptist Church and there is also a large
sign directing drivers to the Mattaponi Indian Reservation and Museum. Go about
2 1/2 miles to the 90 degree right hand turn in the road. Straight ahead is
Wakema Farm and 90 degrees to the left is our road, Old Fraziers Trail. Follow
Old Fraziers Trail until it becomes our driveway(310 Old Fraziers Trail) and
continue on to the house.
From West Point
- follow rt. 30 about 10 miles to 626 (East Rose Garden). Turn right. You will
be in front of Jim Hall's store. When it dead-ends into 640 turn right and go
about 1 mile until the road takes a 90 degree turn to the right. Go 90 degrees
to the left onto Old Fraziers Trail. Follow the road until it becomes our
driveway and come on down to the house.

(Word to the wise -- we are not on any GPS system! Do not try
it. You will end up in downtown West Point!) Note: 2301 Wakema Road may get
you to the 90 degree turn, so just look for the Old Fraziers Trail street sign.
What are Rent Parties?
During the Harlem Renaissance in New York City, “rent
parties” were held where neighbors got together, played music and shared food
and drink. A door charge helped the host to pay the rent. Since our rent is
being provided by a generous donor, our version of the “rent party” helps MPRA
with expenses such as supplies or postage for
mailings. The idea is that everyone brings a little food and beverage to share
and we ask a donation of $5.
For those who haven’t attended one of these functions yet,
you’ve missed a fun get together with other folks who care about the rivers and
like to eat! It’s a great way to find out new places to paddle, if any fish are
biting and share ideas about current and future projects.
Ya’ll come!
